A man has died after being shot by police during a welfare check at a home on Quia Road, Gunnedah.
Police were called around 1:40 pm on Friday following concerns for the man’s wellbeing. Officers initially spoke to him outside the home, but he returned armed with a bow and arrow. A police firearm was discharged during the incident.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene, but he was pronounced dead shortly after.
The State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad is leading the investigation. The case will also be reviewed by the Professional Standards Command and overseen by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC).
