CESSNOCK, NSW — A tense but heroic rescue unfolded this morning as a pregnant woman went into labour in her home bathroom. Emergency crews from VRA Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance, and NSW Police Force sprang into action at 8:05 AM.
While one rescue team worked alongside paramedics to assist the mother, a second crew set up a landing zone for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. Meanwhile, a third team ensured critical medical supplies and blood were transported safely to the aircraft.
Once aboard the helicopter, the expectant mother was airlifted to hospital for urgent assessment and treatment. Authorities later confirmed that mum, baby, and dad are all safe and doing well.
“This is a perfect example of different emergency services working seamlessly together to save lives,” said a spokesperson from VRA Rescue NSW.
It’s a day to remember in Cessnock — for both the family and the brave emergency crews who made it happen.
