Wallsend Fire and Rescue NSW has issued an urgent warning for Newcastle and surrounding suburbs as a major storm system moves in from late Monday into Tu0esday.

This is not your average storm β residents are being urged to prepare now before the worst conditions arrive.

- Sudden, dangerous flash flooding β never walk, ride or drive through floodwaters.
- Falling trees and powerlines due to extreme winds.
- Water damage from blocked gutters and overflowing drains.
- Loose items like trampolines, toys and bins turning into flying debris.

- Clear gutters and drains around your home.
- Bring in or tie down outdoor furniture and items.
- Avoid creeks, storm drains, and low-lying flood zones.
- Postpone unnecessary travel during peak storm hours.
