A 41-year-old man has been charged with a string of alleged sexual offences across the Newcastle region, following an ongoing investigation by NSW Police.
The investigation began after an incident on Friday, 27 June 2025, where the man allegedly exposed himself and performed a sexual act in front of a woman unknown to him in Hamilton South.
Following initial inquiries, police arrested the man on High Street, Maitland, just before midnight on Sunday, 29 June 2025. He was taken to Maitland Police Station and charged with:
- Wilful and obscene exposure in a public place
- Entering enclosed land without lawful excuse
He was granted conditional bail and appeared at Newcastle Local Court on Thursday, 10 July 2025. That matter is still before the courts.
After receiving further reports of similar behaviour in the Cooks Hill and Hamilton areas, police arrested the man again in Maitland earlier today (Thursday, 31 July 2025).
He has now been hit with 13 additional charges, including:
- Four counts of wilful and obscene exposure
- Four counts of carrying out a sexual act without consent
- Four counts of unlawful entry onto enclosed land
- One count of stalking or intimidation with intent to cause fear or harm
The man was refused bail and faced Bail Division Court 2 this afternoon, where bail was formally denied. He is scheduled to reappear before Newcastle Local Court on Thursday, 14 August 2025.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to police.
