A 19-year-old P1 provisional motorcycle rider has had his licence suspended after being caught speeding at 178km/h on the Hunter Expressway.
At 5:15 PM on February 27, Newcastle Highway Patrol officers were conducting speed enforcement at Buchanan when they detected the rider travelling east at nearly double the speed limit for P1 holders, who are restricted to 90km/h.
The rider, who was on a Honda CBR650R and did not have a P-plate displayed, was stopped shortly after. He was issued Traffic Infringement Notices for exceeding the P1 speed limit by over 45km/h and failing to display P-plates. His licence was immediately suspended for six months.
