Authorities have discovered a body during the extensive search for a 42-year-old man who went missing in the Hunter region of the state. The individual was last seen driving along Great North Road, Laguna, on Thursday, April 13, 2023. It is believed that his vehicle broke down on his way home.
Concerns grew when the man could not be located or reached, prompting the involvement of officers from the Hunter Valley Police District. The police launched an investigation into his whereabouts.
In collaboration with specialized police units and the NSW State Emergency Service (SES), law enforcement officers conducted a thorough search operation in the Laguna area. On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, their efforts were met with the discovery of a deceased individual.
A post mortem examination will be conducted to officially identify the person and determine the cause of death.
To shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic event, detectives from the Homicide Squad and Missing Persons Registry of the State Crime Command, along with local Hunter Valley police, have established Strike Force Blakely.
