News Alert: Motorcyclist in Serious Condition After Collision with Car in East Maitland
A collision between a motorcycle and a car has left a 26-year-old male rider in a serious but stable condition at John Hunter Hospital. The incident occurred at around 5:30 pm yesterday evening, when a motorcycle travelling east collided with a hatchback car turning right onto Banks Street from the New England Highway in East Maitland.
Bystanders assisted the injured rider until emergency services arrived, and he was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to the hospital for further treatment. The driver of the car, a 63-year-old man, was also taken to Maitland hospital for treatment for minor injuries and underwent mandatory testing.
Port Stephens-Hunter Police District officers have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. They are urging anyone who may have dashcam footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.
