News Alert: Official GoFundMe Launched for Deceased Rugby League Player as Community Mourns
Aberglasslyn, June 23, 2023 – Following the tragic passing of a young Rugby League player, known only as Aberglasslyn Ants Number 8, an official GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to provide support to the player’s grieving family. The devastating loss occurred last week after the player sustained a severe head injury.
In an open letter addressed to all members, the Newcastle & Hunter Community Rugby League (NHCRL) in collaboration with Aberglasslyn RLFC expressed their heartfelt condolences and called for unity in raising assistance for Player #8’s family during these challenging times.
The letter, signed by the NHCRL Board, stated, “It is with deep regret that we inform our community about the passing of a player following a tragic on-field accident during one of our matches on Saturday. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, the Aberglasslyn RLFC, and the entire Rugby League Community during this time of immense loss.”
The NHCRL assured the community that updates would be provided on how to support the bereaved family, the club, and all those affected as they navigate through this profoundly difficult period. They also emphasized the importance of checking on one another and offered assistance and access to available resources and support networks.
The NHCRL Board extended their sympathies and support to everyone within the Rugby League Community, acknowledging the collective heartbreak that has befallen them.
As the community mourns the loss of Aberglasslyn Ants Number 8, individuals are encouraged to contribute to the GoFundMe campaign, which aims to provide financial assistance to the family in their time of need.
