NSW FACES MASS TEACHER SHORTAGE AS ALMOST 5,000 TEACHERS REMAIN UNVACCINATED.

A mass teacher shortage is looming which could send the education department into chaos, as almost 5,000 teachers will be stood down next week if they fail to comply with the mandate.

From Monday, all NSW teachers must be vaccinated against Covid-19 or face suspension; currently 4,900 teachers have not provided their vaccination status to the education department. Whilst 74,000 teachers have complied with the mandate.

The education department is hopeful that more teachers will comply with the mandate before Monday’s deadline.

A mass teacher shortage is likely to be on the cards which will cause further disruptions to students across NSW, at a time when students really need stability in the classroom.

Mark Latham has questioned why rapid antigen testing can’t be used for teachers who don’t want the jab.

Education Minister Sarah Mitchell said Tuesday that rapid antigen screening “certainly plays a role, but it couldn’t replace vaccination, which is the best way to protect students and teachers.”

Come Monday morning, don’t count your children’s teachers being in the classroom.
