A 20-year-old man has been charged after a police officer was allegedly stabbed during an incident in Sydney’s southwest on Friday evening.
Around 5:20pm on Friday, 7 November 2025, officers from Camden Police Area Command were called to a property on Werombi Road, Grasmere, following reports of a concern for welfare.
During the attempted arrest, the man allegedly threw a spear at police before stabbing a 28-year-old probationary constable in the leg with a sword. Officers deployed a Taser to subdue the man before taking him into custody and transporting him to Campbelltown Police Station.
The injured officer was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and later airlifted to Liverpool Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
A crime scene was established, and police seized several weapons – including a knife, hatchet, and spear – for forensic examination.
Following investigations, the 20-year-old was charged with 11 offences, including:
- Two counts of attempted murder
- Four counts of wounding with intent to resist arrest
- Wounding a police officer in the execution of duty
- Using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention
- Resisting police
- Contravening an AVO
- Breach of bail
The accused was refused bail and is set to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday, 8 November 2025).
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
