Muswellbrook, NSW – Nearly 40 drivers were pulled up and slapped with penalty notices and cautions as part of a major police operation targeting dodgy drivers in the Hunter Valley.
Operation Details:
On Tuesday, December 5th, 2023, NSW Police began an investigation into fraudulent vehicle safety inspections at a premises in Singleton. As a follow-up to this investigation, Highway Patrol officers conducted a vehicle inspection blitz at the Muswellbrook Showground on Rutherford Road the following day.
Results of the Sting:
- Vehicles Inspected: Over 37 vehicles were thoroughly inspected by police officers.
- Penalties Issued: A total of 34 penalty notices were issued to drivers for various offenses, including driving an unregistered vehicle, defective brakes, and exceeding weight limits.
- Cautions Given: 40 drivers received cautions for minor vehicle compliance issues.
- Leters Sent: A number of vehicle owners were specifically requested to attend the showground for inspections after receiving letters from police.
