Naked Man Arrested After Intoxicated Rampage and Car Crash in ShortlandA bizarre incident unfolded on Wednesday evening in Shortland as a naked 61-year-old man went on a reckless drive, culminating in a collision with multiple vehicles and a tree on Rabaul Street.
Newcastle Highway Patrol received numerous reports of the erratic driver and intercepted the silver Holden Astra as it veered onto the wrong side of Sandgate Road.
Despite efforts to stop the vehicle, the man continued his erratic course, swiping three moving vehicles before crashing head-on into an Amorok ute, causing significant damage to both vehicles. Following a breath test, the driver was found to be over four times the legal alcohol limit.
He was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
While no charges have been filed yet, the police have assured that investigations are ongoing, aiming to fully unravel the circumstances leading to this unusual and dangerous event.
