A man has died and four other men remain in hospital following an alleged shooting in Sydney’s south-west on Tuesday night.

Emergency services were called to Liverpool Hospital about 8.30pm after two men, both believed to be in their 20s, arrived with multiple gunshot wounds. One of the men underwent treatment but died a short time later. He is yet to be formally identified.

The second man remains in hospital in a stable condition.

About 10 minutes later, two more men presented to Fairfield Hospital in critical condition, where they continue to receive treatment.

Police say a fifth man, believed to be aged 19, arrived at Liverpool Hospital about 9.50pm with injuries and is also being treated in a stable condition.

Investigators have established a crime scene at a home in Canley Heights and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Detectives from the Fairfield City Police Area Command, assisted by the State Crime Command Homicide Squad, are leading inquiries.
