Investigation Underway After Five Police Vehicles Targeted by Projectiles – Central Coast
Police are investigating an incident in which five police vehicles were damaged by projectiles thrown by riders on illegal e-bikes and dirt bikes on the Central Coast.
The incident occurred around 1:10 pm on Sunday when officers from Brisbane Water Traffic and Highway Patrol were travelling north along Ocean View Drive, Wamberal. Around 20 e-bikes and dirt bikes approached in the opposite direction.
As the riders passed, a projectile struck the front windscreen of a police vehicle, causing significant damage. The group continued onto Terrigal Drive in Terrigal, where additional projectiles were thrown, damaging four more police vehicles.
During the incident, a rock thrown by one of the riders entered a vehicle and struck a police officer, causing an arm injury. The rock has been seized for forensic analysis.
