A quiet Aberglasslyn street has been shaken by a disturbing overnight break-in that saw two cars stolen from the same address while the occupants were asleep inside the home.
The incident occurred sometime between 1.30am and 4.00am, when offenders allegedly broke into the house and stole two sets of car keys. Using those keys, the thieves then drove away in both vehicles, vanishing before the crime was discovered.
The theft was only uncovered later in the morning, prompting an urgent report to police. Maitland Police are now investigating and have issued an appeal for public assistance as they work to track down the stolen vehicles.
Residents in Aberglasslyn and surrounding suburbs are being urged to review CCTV, doorbell camera, and dash-cam footage from the early hours of the morning. Any sightings of suspicious behaviour, unfamiliar vehicles, or people moving through the area during that time could be vital.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Maitland Police immediately. Authorities are also reminding locals to remain vigilant, secure keys out of sight, and report any suspicious activity as vehicle thefts continue to rise across the region.
