On the 11th of May a break and enter occurred at a medical centre in Whitebridge. A like break and enter occurred at a medical centre in Boolaroo on the 21st May 2023, both between the hours of 3am and 4am.
The offender clearly targeted computer storage devices. Investigations by Lake Macquarie Detectives, assisted by experts from the NSW Police Cybercrime Squad executed a search warrant at an address in Broadmeadow Road, Broadmeadow on the 26th May 2023.
During the search warrant police located computer mediums (hard drives, card printers) used to make fraudulent identity documents, cash and identity documents in multiple different names.
A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of Break, Enter and Steal, Knowingly Deal in the proceeds of crime and make or possess equipment for making false documents.
The man was bail refused to the Newcastle Local Court to today (26.05.23). Given he was on parole at the time of the recent offences he will be referred to Community Corrections for considerations to the State Parole Board.
Investigations are continuing with additional charges expected.
