A man has died after being struck by a car in the early hours of Sunday morning in Medowie, within the Port Stephens area.
Emergency services were called to Medowie Road about 1:40am on Sunday, 3 August, following reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, officers from the Port Stephens-Hunter Police District found a man – believed to be in his 30s – with critical head injuries. Despite the efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, he died at the scene.
The 21-year-old male driver of the vehicle was uninjured. He was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established, and detectives from the Crash Investigation Unit are continuing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
