Emergency services will resume the search today for a child who was swept into the ocean at The Entrance yesterday evening.
The incident occurred around 5:15 PM on Sunday, November 3, when a 43-year-old man attempted to cross The Entrance Channel from the North Entrance side with his four sons, aged 11, nine, seven, and three. Tragically, the eldest child was swept into the ocean by a strong current.
Two bystanders quickly cared for the remaining three children, while the father made an unsuccessful attempt to reach the boy. Emergency services, including Tuggerah Lakes Police, Marine Area Command, Surf Life Saving, and Toll and Westpac Rescue Helicopters, launched an extensive search by land, air, and sea. The search continued until nightfall but was suspended due to darkness.
Efforts to locate the child are set to resume at 8 AM today, with all agencies again contributing to the operation.
