Two 16-year-old boys have been taken to John Hunter Hospital following a serious crash involving a stolen motorbike in Cardiff early this morning.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Lowry Street and Main Road just before 2:13am, after the motorbike the teens were riding allegedly collided with a Mazda 3 hatchback.
One teen suffered serious injuries while the other sustained minor injuries. Both are in a stable condition and were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
The motorbike remains embedded in the front of the Mazda. The 52-year-old female driver of the car was uninjured but transported to hospital for mandatory testing.
Main Road is currently a crime scene with major traffic impacts:
- Eastbound direction is completely closed
- Two of three westbound lanes are closed (lanes 2 and 3)
Specialist police are on scene and investigations are ongoing. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use the Live Traffic app for real-time updates.
