SYDNEY ISIS BRIDE DENIED BAIL
Sydney woman Janai Safar has been denied bail after facing court on serious terrorism-related charges following her return to Australia from Syria.
The 32-year-old allegedly travelled to Syria in 2015 to join her ISIS-linked husband and is now charged with entering or remaining in a declared area and membership of a terrorist organisation. Both offences carry a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment. (The Australian)
Safar appeared before the NSW Bail Court, where prosecutors argued the allegations were extremely serious and posed significant community safety concerns. Bail was formally refused, with the matter adjourned for further court proceedings. (News.com.au)
Her arrest came as several women and children linked to former ISIS fighters returned to Australia from Syrian detention camps this week, sparking renewed debate over national security and the handling of Australians linked to the terror group.
