A teenage girl has been flown to hospital with critical injuries after being attacked by a dog at a home in Singleton this morning.

Emergency services were called to Broughton Street about 11.30am (Thursday 4 September 2025), and found 16-year-old girl suffering critical injuries to her head, neck and body.

She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital.

Police have been told the girl was at a friend’s home when the incident occurred.

The 10-year-old dog – described as a large dog of mixed breed – lived at the home.

Passers-by intervened and were able get the dog off the girl before calling for assistance.

Officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District destroyed the dog with the consent of the owner. Police have been assisted at the scene by Singleton Council rangers.

Inquiries are continuing.
