A desperate appeal has been launched after a shocking hit-and-run left a teenage cyclist hospitalized on the Central Coast.
The drama unfolded at around 8:15 PM on Thursday, December 12, 2024, on Minnesota Road, Hamlyn Terrace. A 14-year-old boy, riding his e-bike in a bike lane, reportedly veered into traffic and was struck by a white utility vehicle.
Instead of stopping to help, the driver fled the scene, leaving the injured teen behind. Paramedics rushed to the location and transported the boy to John Hunter Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
Tuggerah Lakes Police quickly established a crime scene and have begun investigating the circumstances of the crash. An image of a vehicle spotted in the area has been released by police, who are eager to speak with the driver as they may hold vital information.
Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
