Emergency services responded to calls help around midday with reports of three children in trouble in the Hunter River near Denman
On arrival the emergency services located 2 children who were safely perched on a log.
The crew continued searching downstream and located a third child who was trapped in debris, with only their face out, but constantly bobbing under water in a state of distress.
Firefighters quickly planned and sent 2 Firefighters into the water to rescue the child from danger, and assess for injury, then waited for the SES swift water team to arrive to assist with extrication.
The SES then assisted the other 2 children out of danger.
Had the firefighters not quickly entered the water to render assistance, it would certainly have been a tragic outcome.
