A local mother has taken to a community Facebook group after a terrifying incident on Main Road near Eraring, where a towbar detached from a vehicle and smashed through the windscreen of her car.
The incident occurred around 9:30am yesterday, as traffic was heading toward Toronto. According to the mother, the vehicle that lost the towball was two cars ahead, leaving her unable to capture the number plate.
“You missed the car behind you and got mine — which also had my four-year-old in the back,” she wrote.
Miraculously, no injuries were reported.
The mother is now appealing for the driver responsible to come forward, saying she has the detached towball in her possession. Police and road safety advocates are also urging motorists to regularly check that towing equipment is secure to prevent potentially deadly incidents.
