Teen driver dies days after Pelaw Main crash
An 18-year-old man has died in hospital following a single-vehicle crash in the Hunter Valley earlier this week.
Emergency services were called to Leggetts Drive at Pelaw Main, about 2km south of Kurri Kurri, at around 3:45pm on Tuesday, 10 March, after reports a vehicle had crashed into a power pole.
Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District arrived to find a single vehicle involved in the crash. The driver, an 18-year-old man, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being transported to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
Police began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
At about 8:15am today (Sunday, 15 March), police were notified the young man had died in hospital.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
