Two Dead in Single-Vehicle Crash Near Coffs Harbour
Two people have died and a third is critically injured following a single-vehicle crash early this morning near Coffs Harbour.
Around 12:40 am, emergency services responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree and caught fire on the Pacific Highway in Bonville, about 25 kilometers south of Coffs Harbour.
The female driver and a male passenger were deceased upon the arrival of emergency services. A second male passenger, aged 20, managed to escape the vehicle after the impact.
The Rural Fire Service and NSW Fire and Rescue extinguished the blaze, while NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the surviving passenger at the scene. He was then transported to Coffs Harbour Health Campus in critical condition.
The deceased are believed to be a 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, though formal identification is pending.
Coffs/Clarence Police District officers have launched an investigation into the crash. Traffic diversions are in place, and motorists are advised to avoid the area for the time being.
