Two women have been taken to hospital following a serious crash on the Hunter Expressway at Greta yesterday evening.
Emergency services were called about 5.20pm on Friday, 15 August, after two SUVs travelling southeast collided.
Police say the first vehicle, a red 2022 Isuzu driven by a 63-year-old woman, was not damaged enough to injure her and she stopped nearby.
The second vehicle, a grey 2020 Honda HR-V, rolled several times, trapping its occupants — a 61-year-old woman and her 88-year-old female passenger — for around an hour.
The older woman was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, while the driver was taken by road ambulance to the same facility.
Hunter Valley Police District officers are investigating the crash and are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage or who witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
