Emergency services have responded to a serious motor vehicle crash involving a minibus at Mount View this morning, with one person trapped and five others injured.
At 10:32am on Tuesday 30 July 2025, Cessnock District Rescue Squad was activated to reports of a vehicle rollover on Mount View Road. On arrival, crews found a minibus had left the roadway and rolled multiple times down an embankment before coming to rest on its wheels.
Due to the precarious position of the vehicle, rescue personnel stabilised the minibus before conducting operations. Most of the occupants were able to self-extricate, though the extent of their injuries remains unknown.
One person, trapped by confinement inside the vehicle, had to be carefully extricated by rescue teams. A mule stretcher was used to carry each casualty up the embankment, prioritising patients based on injury severity.
Access to the crash site was difficult, with crews forced to carry heavy rescue equipment on foot due to the steep terrain.
Hunter Valley Police District established a crime scene, and Mount View Road remains closed as investigations continue.
Cessnock District Rescue Squad praised the coordinated efforts of all emergency crews at the scene, calling it “an awesome job by everyone on scene, once again working together to get the job done.”
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
More updates will follow as they become available.
