The Anderson family of Milbrodale, New South Wales, lost their home and all possessions to a devastating fire on the night of Saturday, March 1st, 2025. The blaze consumed their residence, leaving them with only the clothes they were wearing.
Jo Anderson recounted the harrowing experience: “The night our world changed. I received a call that no one wants to make or take—I was told our house was on fire! I can’t even describe my emotion at this time—shock, fear, and tears were just a few. We have lost everything in our house except the beating hearts that lived in it, the clothes on our backs, and the shoes on our feet.”
The family is currently in temporary accommodation but faces the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch. They are in urgent need of essentials such as clothing, shoes, household items, and financial support. The Bulga Community Centre has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to rally support for the Andersons during this challenging time.
The community has already begun to show their support, with donations totaling $2,600 AUD from seven contributors at the time of this report. Notably, Eric Goodwin generously donated $1,000 AUD, and others have followed suit with contributions ranging from $100 to $1,000 AUD.
Jo Anderson expressed profound gratitude for the community’s support, stating, “This has been, and will be, the toughest road we have walked as a family, but I know we will get through it. My resilient, gorgeous children have cried, shaken, and realized everything they have lost, but now they hold their heads up, knowing we will help them rebuild.”
The Bulga Community Centre is also coordinating the collection of physical donations. Individuals wishing to contribute items are encouraged to contact the Centre directly to discuss specific needs.
The Anderson family’s ordeal serves as a poignant reminder of the unpredictable nature of life and the importance of community solidarity. In Jo’s words, “Hold your family tight and love them, because you never know how or when life can change.”
