Wollombi Rd, Bellbird to Cessnock upgrade.

Wollombi Road to receive $16.8 million in funding from the NSW Liberals & Nationals in Government.

The Accelerated Infrastructure Fund is part of the $2.8 billion NSW Housing Package announced in the 2022-23 NSW State Budget, of which the NSW Government is investing $250 million into essential infrastructure.

Cessnock City Council is 1 of 36 Councils to receive funding in the third round of the program.

The project will involve road widening and intersection improvements at Wollombi Road, Cessnock with the details below:

• Road widening – Wollombi Road (Francis Street to West Avenue)
• Road Widening – Wollombi Road (Abbotsford Street to Francis Street)
• Intersection improvements – Wollombi Road / Abbotsford Street /Cox Street
• Intersection improvements – Wollombi Road / Bellbird North Access)

I’m very pleased to see this announcement having only just recently been discussing these issues with locals in Bellbird today.

The road widening and intersection improvements will provide safer and more efficient transport for our residents, visitors and businesses. The upgrades will help to ease congestion and improve accessibility, which is crucial for our growing region.
