A shocking case of alleged arson has rocked the quiet suburb of Hamilton, with a woman now behind bars after a fire tore through a local massage clinic — and left a 63-year-old woman gasping for air inside!
Emergency services rushed to the scene just after 6am on Saturday, June 28, following frantic calls about flames erupting at the Beaumont Street business. Police allege a woman deliberately set the fire against the building’s exterior wall before fleeing the scene like a ghost in the smoke.
Firefighters from Fire and Rescue NSW battled the blaze, which tore into the clinic’s wall and roof space, leaving significant damage. Inside, a 63-year-old woman was found suffering from smoke inhalation and had to be treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
The hunt for the alleged arsonist didn’t last long. After a swift police investigation, officers descended on a unit in nearby Hamilton South just after midday on Sunday, arresting a 37-year-old woman at the property.
She was taken to Newcastle Police Station and hit with a serious charge: damaging property by fire/explosive over $15,000. Bail? Denied.
She’ll face Parramatta Local Court today, Monday, June 30, as investigators work to uncover the full motive behind the terrifying blaze.
