A 32-year-old woman has been arrested after the body of a four-year-old boy was discovered inside a home on the NSW Central Coast on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency services were called after the woman attended Wyong Police Station at about 4.40pm, prompting officers to conduct a welfare check at a nearby property.
When police entered the home on Byron Street, Wyong, they located the body of a young boy with significant arm injuries.
The woman, who is known to the child, was arrested at the police station and remains in custody as investigations continue.
A crime scene has been established, with detectives from the NSW State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad now assisting local police with the investigation.
The child has not yet been formally identified, and police are yet to announce any charges in relation to the incident.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death remain ongoing.
