A 32-year-old woman has been charged after a late-night fire destroyed a home on Mooranga Road, Mirrabooka, in the Lake Macquarie region.

Emergency services were called about 10.40pm on Sunday after reports of a structure fire. Fire and Rescue NSW crews attended and extinguished the blaze, but the house was destroyed.
The sole occupant, a 32-year-old woman, was able to evacuate without injury. She was arrested at the scene by officers from the Lake Macquarie Police District and taken to Toronto Police Station.
Following inquiries, the woman was charged with damage property by fire/explosion more than $15,000. She was refused bail and is due to appear before Bail Division Court 2 today, Monday 18 August 2025.
Police have confirmed investigations into the circumstances of the blaze are ongoing. Authorities have not reported any injuries to neighbours or attending emergency personnel.
This incident comes after firefighters across the Hunter and Central Coast regions were called to several structure fires in recent weeks, highlighting the dangers and destructive impacts of residential blazes.
