A woman has died following a single vehicle crash at Wyee on Sunday night.

Emergency services were called to Wyee Road, near Bethshan Street, about 7pm after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a black sedan.

A 45-year-old woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, she could not be revived.

She is yet to be formally identified.

The driver, a woman aged in her 40s, was taken to Wyong Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District established a crime scene and have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Wyee Road remains closed between Bethshan Street and Ruttleys Road as investigations continue.
