A woman has died and three others have been injured after a car crashed into a power pole north-west of Coffs Harbour overnight.

Emergency services were called to Coramba Road at Karangi about 10.45pm on Sunday, May 17, following reports a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a power pole.

On arrival, crews found two occupants trapped inside the vehicle.

A female passenger died at the scene despite efforts by emergency services, while the remaining three occupants were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus.

Police said a second woman suffered leg and pelvic injuries, while the male driver is undergoing medical assessment and mandatory testing. Another male occupant is also being treated in hospital for injuries that are yet to be confirmed.

All four occupants are believed to be in their early 20s.

Officers attached to Coffs Clarence Police District established a crime scene, with specialist investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit travelling from Port Macquarie to examine the scene.

Coramba Road remained closed on Monday morning and was expected to reopen around 7am while investigations continued.

Anyone with information, CCTV footage or dashcam vision is urged to contact NSW Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
