A woman has been seriously injured after her car crashed into a power pole at Pokolbin on Wednesday night, leaving her trapped inside the wreckage.
Emergency services were called to Oakey Creek Road about 8.40pm following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
On arrival, VRA Rescue NSW Cessnock crews found the woman trapped by her injuries and immediately began providing first aid while awaiting NSW Ambulance paramedics.
Due to concerns over the extent of her injuries, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was also tasked to the scene. Rescue crews worked with paramedics to carefully transfer the woman onto a spine board before safely extricating her from the vehicle and moving her to a suitable location for further medical assessment.
The woman suffered significant injuries and was ultimately transported by road ambulance to hospital.
Fire and Rescue NSW, the NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW Ambulance, VRA Rescue NSW and Ausgrid all responded to the incident.
The crash caused damage to a power pole, with crews also managing the risk posed by electrical infrastructure at the scene.
