Police have launched a homicide investigation after the body of a woman was found inside a home in the Hunter Valley on Friday night.
Emergency services were called to Ellalong Street, Kearsley, near Cessnock, just after 7.30pm, following reports of a domestic incident.
When officers entered the home, they discovered the body of a woman. While she has not yet been formally identified, she is believed to be in her 30s.
A crime scene has been established and is being examined by specialist forensic officers.
Detectives from the Hunter Valley Police District, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
