Cessnock City Council is seeking community input on the future of a newly restored, large vacant grassy block at the corner of Vincent Street and Aberdare Road, where the old Cessnock Workers Club once stood. Mayor Jay Suvaal is encouraging residents to share their ideas on how this prominent space, a gateway to Cessnock, could best serve the community.
Mayor Suvaal has proposed several potential uses for the site, including an outdoor stage for concerts and events, a large screen for outdoor movies and live broadcasts of major sporting events, and a space for community markets. Additional suggestions include improved parking, seating, and amenities to enhance the experience for visitors and locals alike.
The only issue I see with this site is Parking still remains and a big issue around the Cessnock CBD and which I have not seen any plans to address parking, perhaps council could seek investment for a private parking lot.
Residents are invited to share their thoughts and suggestions in the comments.
