Politicians love to block anyone on Facebook whose ideas and values are not the same as their own. They want to surround themselves in a bubble of confirmation bias.
The leader of the labor opposition, Chris Minns, has been running a positive campaign with the message “we’re in this together”, the only problem is, we are not in this together.
I left a comment on a post tonight from Liesl Tesch, which, in hindsight, I should have screenshot. To put it into some context, the post in question was about today’s lockdown protest.
I left the following comment: “If we’re in this together, why have politicians pay packets not been capped at $600 per week? Not one single politician has suffered since the beginning of the pandemic”.
Boom! Within minutes of my outrageous statement, I am blocked. How dare I suggest politicians have their pay capped during lockdown. How dare you think that politicians should suffer just a little bit.
These heartless hypocrites won’t hesitate to take your freedoms, your jobs and watch you suffer, meanwhile they are lining their pockets with fistfuls of cash every week.
Just sit, stay home, take your “less than a minimum wage government handout” and shut up. Don’t speak out, don’t protest or we will hunt down every last one of you. Just imagine if they’d put this much effort into stopping the virus in the beginning.
