A 35-year-old man is set to face court after allegedly returning a high-range blood alcohol reading following a crash in Abermain last night.

About 8.35pm on Sunday 5 July 2026, emergency services were called to a property on Baileys Lane after reports a vehicle had crashed.

Police say a grey utility drove through a wire fence, continued through a timber shed, and came to rest against a second fence.

Officers attended the scene and spoke with the driver, who did not report any injuries.

The man underwent a roadside breath test which allegedly returned a positive result. He was arrested and taken to Cessnock Police Station, where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.256.

He has been issued a Court Attendance Notice for high-range PCA (prescribed concentration of alcohol) and is due to appear in Cessnock Local Court on Tuesday 4 August 2026.

His licence has also been suspended.
