One Nation has announced a plan aimed at reducing the cost of groceries and fuel, arguing that rising energy and transport costs are placing pressure on Australian households.
The party says it would target fuel costs by freezing and reducing fuel excise, cutting fuel-related taxes, rebuilding Australia’s domestic refining capacity and increasing national fuel reserves.
One Nation claims lowering fuel costs would help reduce expenses for farmers, producers, transport operators and businesses involved in moving food from paddock to supermarket shelves.
“Food should not cost more because Canberra makes fuel more expensive,” the party said in announcing the policy.
The proposal forms part of One Nation’s broader election platform focused on reducing the cost of living and increasing Australia’s fuel security.
