PFIZERS ANNOUNCEMENT SHOULD SEND SHIVERS DOWN THE SPINE OF EVERY RESIDENT OF NSW

Pfizer made headlines around the world when they announced their mRNA Vaccine was 91.3% effective against COVID-19, measured seven days through up to six months after the second dose. The vaccine was 100% effective against severe disease as defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

Researchers now say they that just one Jab of Pfizer, has barley any affect on the “Delta Strain” of the Virus, Pfizer has just Announced it intends to apply for an emergency use thrid Jab in the United States to combat the threat of Delta.

This news should should send shivers down your spine as Sydney is in the early stages of a Covid “Delta Strain” outbreak and is likely to be the worst outbreak we have seen in Australia. The “Delta Strain” shows no signs of slowing to spite a 2 week lockdown and a slow vaccine roll out, leaving most Australians vulnerable to catching the “Delta Variant” of Covid.

Pfizer, is set to deliver 40 million doses of its vaccine by the end of 2021 which is enough to roughly vaccinate every Australian between the age of 15 and 60 or 20 million people with two jabs providing there is no wastage of vaccine doses. However, Pfizer now says we need three jabs which leaves Australia well short and Australia needs these shots now to protect against the “Delta Strain”

The lockdown is falling and with a vaccine shortage means the outlook for Sydney is bleak, just maybe the tougher restrictions might be enough to slow Delta enough that our hospitals are not overrun. But how long can we stay locked down for?

Health Minster Brad Hazzard said a few days ago if can’t control the “Delta Variant” soon we will have to learn to live with.

“If the individuals that we need don’t hear Dr Chant’s message and don’t respond, then at some point we’re going to move to a stage where we’re going to have to accept that the virus has a life which will continue in the community,” Mr Hazzard said.

Australia has 8.3% of the population fully vaccinated, but the goal post for fully vaccinated are changing which leaves every single Australian vulnerable to the Delta Strain. There is some good news older Australians have been receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine, which the TGA says two doses is required to provide protection from Delta.
