A nine-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after being struck by a car in Muswellbrook this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Maitland Street and Rutherford Road at about 3:40pm on Friday 13 March 2026, following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian.
Police say the child was crossing Rutherford Road when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old P-plate driver turning west from Maitland Street.
The boy was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Muswellbrook Hospital. As a precaution, he was later airlifted to John Hunter Hospital. He is in a stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
The teenage driver was not injured. Police have begun inquiries into the circumstances of the crash.
