Man Rescued After Being Trapped Under 250kg Water Tank Near Cessnock

April 14 6:17 AM • MHV NEWS

Emergency services were called to a property in Elrington yesterday afternoon after a man became trapped beneath a heavy metal water tank.

About 2:11pm, rescue crews were activated following reports the man was pinned under a 250kg tank, with both legs trapped above the knees.

Specialist operators from VRA Rescue NSW worked alongside paramedics from NSW Ambulance to stabilise the patient before attempting a complex extrication.

Once the man was assessed and deemed stable, rescuers deployed air lifting bags on either side of the tank, supported by cribbing as a secondary safety measure. The tank was then carefully raised, allowing crews to safely free the man.

He was treated at the scene, placed onto a spine board, and transported by ambulance to hospital for further assessment and treatment.

Authorities have praised the coordinated efforts of all emergency personnel involved in the successful rescue.
