Hunter Post Office Set to Close if New Operator Not Found

Postal services in Branxton are facing uncertainty, with Australia Post confirming the local Licensed Post Office is set to close later this year.

The current operator of the Branxton Licensed Post Office has advised Australia Post of their intention to cease operations at 5pm on Friday, 26 June 2026.

Australia Post says it is now urgently exploring options to maintain postal services for the Branxton community and surrounding areas, including seeking expressions of interest from local small businesses willing to take on the service.

Business owners in the area who may be interested in operating the post office are being encouraged to come forward, with Australia Post open to new partnerships to keep services running locally.

Expressions of interest close on 8 May 2026, leaving a short window for a replacement operator to be found.

Community members who know a suitable business owner are being encouraged to get in touch or help connect them with Australia Post as the search continues.
