Tonight’s night sky will feature a spectacular celestial event—a Blue Supermoon. This rare phenomenon combines two impressive lunar events: a Super Full Moon and a Blue Moon. While Super Full Moons occur with some frequency, Blue Moons are a rarer sight, appearing only once every few years. The Blue Supermoon is even more exceptional, gracing our skies approximately once every decade.
For early risers, the moon will reach its peak at 4:25 AM AEST, when it will be at its closest point to Earth. However, Australian stargazers will have the best view of the moon on Monday evening. The moon is expected to rise around 5 PM, becoming fully visible over the horizon from approximately 6 PM in Australia’s capital cities.
