A 42-year-old man is set to appear in Newcastle Local Court today following his arrest for alleged traffic, drug, and weapons offences. Police from Newcastle City Police District attempted to stop a vehicle, reportedly stolen from a Merewether address, on Union Street, The Junction, around 2 PM on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. When the driver allegedly failed to comply, a pursuit ensued. The chase ended on Henry Street, Merewether, where the man abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
