Rubbish Fire Sparks Investigation
On the morning of August 11, 2024, at around 10 AM, the Pokolbin Rural Fire Brigade responded to a fire call in Cessnock. Firefighters arrived with both Cat 1 and Cat 7 tankers to find three rubbish piles ablaze. The fires were swiftly extinguished, preventing further spread. Police attended the scene and are now investigating the suspicious origins of the fires.
