The arrest follows the earlier charging of George Fernando, 43, who presented himself at Moree Police Station on Wednesday night and was charged with murder. He was also refused bail and will face court again on December 4.
Two others, a 27-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, were charged last week with murder and remain before the courts.
In a dramatic development, police announced that Ryan Sampson, the fifth suspect, is set to be extradited to New South Wales next week after his arrest in Queensland. Sampson is also facing murder charges in relation to James Callahan’s death.
The investigation, led by Strike Force Mannum with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, is ongoing. Four people are now facing charges in connection with the fatal stabbing, while Sampson’s extradition adds another key figure to the case.
