Passenger Opens Emergency Exit and Slides Out of Jetstar Flight After Landing in Melbourne
A Jetstar passenger triggered a chaotic scene at Melbourne Airport on Thursday morning by opening the emergency exit door of a plane and sliding down the evacuation slide.
The incident occurred on flight JQ507 from Sydney, which had just landed at around 10 a.m. The passenger, a man in his 30s, reportedly ignored instructions from flight attendants who were urging him to remain seated. Instead, he opened the emergency exit and stepped out onto the wing of the Airbus A320-200 before sliding down the deployed evacuation slide.
Ground staff quickly restrained the man, while other passengers were left in shock, some pleading with him to “please sit down” during the commotion.
Jetstar confirmed the event, stating that the emergency exit door was opened after the plane’s arrival, which automatically deployed the slide. The man has been arrested, and all passengers were eventually allowed to disembark safely.
